Risk Off - Week-in-Review 5/1/2023
Broad markets for the week were up slightly with NASDAQ leading the way up 1.88%. The move higher was driven in large part by by better than expected earnings surprises.
In our daily posts to paid subscribers we publish securities that have reached a price objective either up or down and suggest an amount to sell or an amount to buy (Add/Initiate). This week we had a number of Add/Initiate signals. Those that had a move of 4.5% or greater are listed below.
Of the stocks marked with an Add/Initiate, 84% show a positive outcome from acquisition date to 4/28/2023. This positive outcome is in part attributable to the strength of the broader markets. MSFT had the strongest move, up 11.6% from the Add/Initiate signal and a Sell signal has already been issued to take some of the gain off the table.
We believe owning individual stocks during this period of uncertainty regarding Fed tightening, inflation, regional bank distress will provide opportunities to capture very positive returns. There is a lot more volatility but the DynaLogic signals are there to guide you along the way.
Good-Til-Cancel
We have mentioned several times that one way to use the DynaLogic signal technology is for next Add/Initiate or next Sell data. Included in every daily post to paid subscribers is a list of all securities we are following with next Add/Initiate prices and next Sell prices. We encourage you to become a paid subscriber and use this information to enter Good-Til-Cancel (GTC) orders. All custodians allow the user to enter limit orders for stocks or ETFs. Simply determine the number of shares you want to buy or sell, enter the next Add/Initiate or Sell price. When the price of the underlying stock trades at the limit price, your order will become a market order and will be filled.
This week DynaLogic published a next Add/Initiate price for Microsoft (MSFT) at $276.43. On April 25, 2023, MSFT traded at $276.43 and a limit order would have become a market order. After the close on the 25th, MSFT announced strong earnings and revenues and the stock opened the next day up $23. Those who uses a GTC order captured the upswing. Those who got the Add/Initiate at $275.42 the next day in the post missed the upswing.
